Observando estas listas, sempre me chama a atenção o fato de algumas palavras aparecerem logo nas primeiras posições entre as mais usadas, porém serem consideradas de nível "intermediário" ou "avançado" pelos livros didáticos, aparecendo para os estudantes de inglês (em escolas de idiomas) somente depois de 2 anos de curso não intensivo - Por exemplo: "would" (63a mais usada), "been" (85a mais usada), "must" (158a mais usada), "should" (198a mais usada) etc.
Abaixo uma outra lista igualmente com as 200, ou melhor, 187 palavras mais comuns em inglês. Mesmo tendo sido feita por pesquisadores totalmente diferentes, ela é muito semelhante à lista acima em termos de vocabulário, variando apenas a posição em que as palavras aparecem; e nela também estão aquelas palavras consideradas "vocabulário avançado" que mencionei: "would" (182a mais usada), "been" (20a mais usada), "must" (93a mais usada), "should" (127a mais usada) etc.
