Effective Teaching

Ask yourself each of the following questions to ensure that you are giving your students your best, after all, wouldn't you want to be a student in your class?

I sure hope so, if not, you may wish to re-think your career.

1. What types of questions will I ask that will make my students think, reflect and engage?
2.  How will I give my students feedback? Feedback is what will push them into deeper and permanent learning - more so if they respond to the feedback.

3.  Do I maintain a healthy pace for each of my lessons? How do I know?

4.  Am I authentic? Are my students able to relate to the content?

5. Am I showing passion for what I am teaching? Do I keep it fun and worthwhile?

6.  Do I provide the opportunity for collaboration, problem solving and working together? After all, we rarely solve problems alone.

7.  Is there opportunity for movement? No student wants to sit at a desk all day.

8.  Is there a purpose for learning? Did I establish it with my students? Could my students answer the question "Why am I Learning this?"

If you can answer positively to each of these questions for the content you are about to teach, pat yourself on the back and share with others.

What is the best teaching method for learning English?

According to academic research, linguists have demonstrated that there is not one single best method for everyone in all contexts, and that no one teaching method is inherently superior to the others.

Also, it is not always possible – or appropriate – to apply the same methodology to all learners, who have different objectives, environments and learning needs.

Teach Write a Letter

Letter writing

Steps of writing an informal letter.

1. Write the date and a salutation.
2. Begin the letter with some pleasantries.
3. Share news and personal details.
4. Discuss topics that are relevant to your friend.
5. Write a final paragraph sending your friend best wishes.
6. Finish off with a closing, then sign your name.

Beginning the Letter

1 - Date the letter. If you're taking the trouble to write a letter by hand, it's nice to add a date on the top left corner of the paper. Many people save letters for years to come, and they like to be able to see what day and year it was written to reminisce about earlier times. Write out the date - for example, "May 7, 2013" - or abbreviate it using only numbers indicating the month, day and year.

2 - Write a salutation. The beginning of a letter, whether it's handwritten or in the form of an email, is called a salutation. That's where you address the person to whom you're writing by name - for example, "Dear Emily" or "Hello, Skylar." Think about the nature of your relationship with the letter recipient, as well as your own preferences and style, and choose your greeting accordingly.

Absolute Beginner English

Teaching absolute beginners requires the teacher to pay special attention to the order in which new language is introduced. The teacher lesson plan plays an essential role in making sure that new grammar is introduced slowly and successfully. This 20 point program provides a syllabus to take students from speaking no English at all, to being able to fulfill basic communication needs including; giving personal information and describing their daily routines and the world around them.
Obviously, there is a lot more to speaking English confidently than these twenty points. This 20 point program has been designed to provide a strong base on which to build while, at the same time, providing learners with the most important language skills they will need to get going.

Word Clouds

Tagxedo turns words ------ famous speeches, news articles, slogans and themes, even your love letters ----- into a visually stunning word cloud, words individually sized appropriately to highlight the frequencies of occurrence within the body of text.
