WH Question - Como fazer perguntas em inglês ?

São pronomes e advérbios interrogativos usados para formular perguntas específicas, também são conhecidos como WH-Questions.

São os pronomes interrogativos: Who, Whom, Whose, What e Which.

Os advérbios interrogativos são: Why, When e Where.

Na maior parte dos casos, os Interrogativos são colocados antes de verbos auxiliares ou modais.

É importante destacar que essas palavras são usadas normalmente no início da pergunta e devem estar acompanhadas dos auxiliares respectivos do tempo verbal. 


What
O “what” é utilizado de diversas formas no inglês. Em uma pergunta significa o que ou qual. 
What are you up to today?
(O que você fará hoje?)

Note que essa é uma frase com o verbo “to be” apenas e que, mesmo assim, are se desloca para o início dela para formar a pergunta com what.

Confira um outro exemplo: 
What did you tell her?
(O que você disse para ela?)

Nesse caso, o auxiliar da frase é o “did”, que nos indica que a frase está no tempo passado, certo? Dessa forma, ele também aparece logo no início da pergunta. O mesmo acontece quando a pergunta está no present perfect ou past perfect com os auxiliares “have/has/had” . 


Who
Quando quiser descobrir quem fez algo, use who.
Who did you see there?
(Quem você viu lá?)

Agora, use “whose” para perguntar de quem é algo: 
Whose blouse is this?
(De quem é essa blusa?)

Repare que whose é seguido do objeto de quem queremos achar o dono e só depois vemos o auxiliar do verbo e o sujeito da pergunta.


When
Para saber a data ou quando algo aconteceu/vai acontecer, faça uma pergunta com “when”.
When are you travelling?
(Quando você vai viajar?) 
When did they leave?
(Quando eles partiram?) 
When is your birthday?
(Quando é o seu aniversário?) 


Where
Se é o lugar em que algo está ou vai acontecer, pergunte com “where” (onde):
Where did you go last night?
(Aonde você foi na noite passada?) 
Where are the kids hiding?
(Onde as crianças estão escondidas?) 


Why
Esta é a palavra que usamos para saber o motivo, a razão: é o nosso por quê.
Why are you taking so long?
(Por que você está demorando tanto?)
Why is it so expensive?
(Por que é tão caro?)

Atenção ao responder perguntas com “why”, pois, apesar de ele ser usado na pergunta, a resposta é feita com “because”. Por exemplo: 
Why are you taking so long?
Because I’m stuck in traffic!
(Porque estou preso no trânsito!)


Which
Esse costuma causar um pouco de confusão pela semelhança de significado com what. “Which” significa “qual” ou “quais”, porém é usado quando nos referimos a uma escolha entre elementos, ou seja, é uma pergunta com opções limitadas de resposta. 
Which one is yours: the blue or the red?
(Qual é o seu: o azul ou o vermelho?)
Which one of the papers is yours?
(Qual dos trabalhos é o seu?)


How
Esta é uma “question word” em inglês que não começa com “wh-“, mas também está entre as básicas: “how” significa “como”.
How are you?
(Como você está?)
How was your flight?
(Como foi seu voo?)
