Back to School Tips and Ideas…lots of them!

It’s that time of year again. You know, when Target starts loading their shelves with notebooks and crayons. I hope you have enjoyed your summer and find yourself refreshed and re-energized for your new set of kids who you will undoubtedly meet soon!
I thought I would make your planning a little easier for you by sharing some of my favorite back to school tips and ideas.
I know you have a ton of things to do to prepare, so I thought I’d keep it short and sweet with a fun theme: something old, something, new, something borrowed, and something true…and all ideas you can use for back to school!

I can’t remember where I heard this, it wasn’t from my own brain, but I always heeded this advice. Students want to know that there is room for them in your classroom.
It’s ok if you don’t have every bulletin board perfectly decorated.
Bright happy colors make students feel welcome, even if the boards are blank.

Happy Back to School!

Back to School Toolkit for Special Education Teachers

The success of your school year will depend less on the beauty of your bulletin boards than on the structure you put in place to support successful academic performance and positive thinking and behavior.
The best way to guarantee a successful school year is to be sure you have enough enough strategies in place to provide guidance, support for the behavior you want and consequences for the behavior you do not want.  More »

Back to School Tips for Teachers

Reflect on the Past

Experience is the ultimate learning tool. First-year teachers will only have their limited experience as a student teacher on which they can rely. Unfortunately, this small sample does not provide them with much information.
Veteran teachers will tell you that you learn more in the first few weeks as a teacher than you did during your entire time in a teacher education program. For teachers with at least one year of experience, reflecting on the past can be a valuable tool.
Great teachers are constantly looking for new ideas and methods to apply to their classroom.
You should never be afraid to try a new approach, but understand that sometimes it works, sometimes it needs tweaking, and sometimes it will need to be thrown out altogether. Teachers must rely on their experiences when it comes to all aspects of their classroom. A teacher must allow experiences, both good and bad, to guide their overall approach to teaching.

It Is a New Year

#First #day of #school - #Tips for #New #Teachers

Are you nervous about the first day of school?
Here are some tips to help ease your mind and set the tone for a great year!

The first day of school will be here before you know it. The night before my very first first day of school as a teacher I could not sleep because I was so nervous and excited. Even on my eighth first day as a teacher, I still had butterflies! I thought I would share with you some tips that worked for me. If you are a first year teacher, or if you’ve been around the block (hallway?) a time or two, I hope you find these helpful.
1.Greet your students at the door. Stand at your door with a smile. Greet them, welcome them, learn their names. Help them know that when they walk into your classroom, they will be greeted with a friendly face and kind words. This simple gesture on the first day of school goes a long way!

#First #Day of #School

The 1st day of school can be a traumatic one for both students and teachers alike. The tranquil, balmy, slow-paced days of summer are replaced by days filled with rigid deadlines, new friends and teachers, and tricky classroom assignments.

An often-tricky task for educators is creating first day of school activities that break the ice in a classroom and get the students acclimated with one another. Another goal of such activities is making your students feel welcome, and establishing a decent rapport with them.

There are Many 1st Day of School Activities

Tools for Teaching: Starting the New School Year

On the first day of school, the first question in students' minds is, "Who are you?" Their second question is, "Who are they?"
Students do better in class when they are comfortable, relaxed, and "at home.
A very good reason to devote the lion's share of your first class period of the year to creating comfort.

Every teacher has a different approach to the first few days of school. Whatever your approach, Education World has an activity for you!

Each summer, teachers send home a list of supplies students will need during the upcoming school year. Until now, little thought has been given to the supplies teachers might find useful. Noted educator Howard Seeman corrects that oversight with his back-to-school list for the well-equipped teacher. Included: Twenty-seven must-have items.

PROJETOS ESCOLARES - INGLES
